Victims Services Counselling
If your counselling has been approved through the NSW Victims Support Scheme, you’re welcome to access your sessions with me, either in person in Billinudgel or online across Australia.
The effects of trauma often continue long after the event itself has ended.
You may be living with anxiety, emotional overwhelm, difficulties trusting others, changes in relationships, or simply a sense that life has never quite returned to the way it once felt.
Some people seek counselling soon after what happened. Others reach out months or years later, when they realise its impact is still affecting their daily lives.
Whatever has brought you here, therapy offers an opportunity to better understand your experiences, at a pace that feels safe, respectful and guided by your individual needs.
Healing doesn’t mean forgetting what happened. It means no longer carrying it alone.
How Victims Services counselling works
The NSW Victims Support Scheme provides funded counselling for eligible people who have experienced violent crime and whose counselling has been approved through Victims Services.
As an approved Victims Support counsellor, I provide counselling to adults and young people aged 16 years and over, both in person in Billinudgel and online across Australia.
My role is to provide counselling once approval has been granted.
Information about eligibility and the application process is available directly through NSW Victims Services.
My approach
Every person’s experience of trauma is different.
There is no expectation that you tell your whole story during your first appointment, or that therapy follows a particular timeline.
My approach is trauma informed, person centred and collaborative.
Together, we’ll work towards understanding how your experiences may be affecting your life today, while developing practical ways to support your recovery.
Depending on your individual needs and therapeutic goals, our work may draw on EMDR alongside other evidence based counselling approaches where appropriate. We’ll always decide together what feels most suitable and helpful for you.
What counselling may help with
People access Victims Services counselling for many different reasons, and every person’s experience is unique.
Some people seek support soon after a traumatic event. Others come to therapy months or years later, when they realise the experience continues to affect their daily life.
Counselling may be helpful if you’re experiencing:
- anxiety or ongoing fear
- feeling constantly on edge or hypervigilant
- distressing memories
- difficulties trusting others
- changes in relationships
- emotional overwhelm
- grief and loss
- shame or self blame
- feeling disconnected from yourself or others
- the ongoing effects of traumatic experiences
Therapy is always tailored to your individual experiences, needs and goals.
What to expect
Before beginning therapy, I’ll ask you to complete my intake forms and provide your Victims Services reference number so I can request your approved counselling allocation.
Our first appointment focuses on understanding your experiences, your current circumstances and what you’re hoping to gain from counselling.
There is never any expectation to talk about experiences before you feel ready.
Together, we’ll decide on the most appropriate therapeutic approach and work at a pace that feels manageable for you.
Considering Victims Services counselling?
If your counselling has already been approved through the NSW Victims Support Scheme and you feel my approach may be a good fit, you’re welcome to get in touch.
Our first appointment is an opportunity to understand what’s been happening, discuss your goals, and consider together what support is likely to be most helpful for your circumstances.
