Before You Reach Out

Booking an appointment is simple. You can request a session through my online booking system at a time that suits you.

Once I receive your request, I'll review your booking before confirming your appointment. You'll then receive an intake form, consent documents and some information about the practice to complete before your first session.

If you're unsure which appointment to book or have any questions before getting started, you're always welcome to get in touch.

Our first session is an opportunity to get to know each other and understand what has brought you to therapy.

We'll explore your current concerns, talk about what you hope to achieve, discuss any relevant background, and begin developing a shared understanding of how we might work together. There is no pressure to tell your whole story in one session, and you don't need to have everything figured out before you begin.

It's completely normal to feel uncertain before starting therapy.

Many people come to their first appointment feeling nervous or unsure about what to expect. The initial session is simply an opportunity to explore what's been happening, ask questions, and see whether working together feels like the right fit. There is no expectation to commit beyond the first appointment.

There isn't a set number of sessions because everyone's circumstances and goals are different.

Some people find that a few sessions are enough to work through a specific issue, while others benefit from longer term support. Together we'll regularly review your progress and decide what feels most helpful as therapy unfolds.

I work with adults and young people aged 16 and over experiencing a wide range of concerns, including trauma, anxiety, ADHD, grief, relationship difficulties, life transitions, emotional overwhelm and the lasting impacts of adverse life experiences.

My approach is trauma informed, person centred and evidence informed, drawing on EMDR therapy alongside other approaches according to your individual needs.

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing. It is an evidence based therapy commonly used to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences.

Rather than repeatedly talking through painful memories, EMDR helps the brain process experiences that have become “stuck.” Over time, those memories often become less emotionally overwhelming, allowing you to respond to them with greater flexibility and less distress.

Not everyone needs EMDR. If it's appropriate for your goals, we'll discuss it together and decide whether it's the right approach for you.

Both counsellors and psychologists are qualified mental health professionals who support people experiencing emotional and psychological difficulties.

Psychologists complete postgraduate training and are registered with AHPRA, allowing them to diagnose mental health conditions and provide Medicare rebated services through a Mental Health Care Plan.

Clinical counsellors complete specialised counselling qualifications and focus on helping people understand their experiences, develop coping strategies and create meaningful change through the therapeutic relationship. You don't need a GP referral or Mental Health Care Plan to see a counsellor.

I work with adults and young people aged 16 and over.
